Our History

A journey rooted in ancient temples and timeless wisdom

The Story of Advaithashramam

1992

Land & Temple Handover

Sree Kolathoorappan Kshetram — a temple with thousands of years of history — and Sree Vallorakkavu Kshetram (main deity: Kiratha Siva with Bhagavathi, Ganapathi and Dharma Sastha) are located in Kolathur village.

The then owner, Sri Mangalassery Narayana Swami, handed over Sree Vallorakkavu Kshethram along with 56 cents of land to the newly formed Sri Vallorakkavu Kshethra Samithi (registered under the Indian Societies Registration Act).

2003

Sri Sankara Charitable Trust

Swami Chidananda Puri, the Patron of the Kshethra Samithi from its inception, founded the Sri Sankara Charitable Trust to expand the activities of the Ashramam and spread Sanatana Dharma more widely.

2005

Sri Sankara Balasadanam

The Trust started Sri Sankara Balasadanam — a home for underprivileged boys. It served the community until 2018, when it was closed after careful consideration of practical aspects.
